Transparency & governance

A foundation asking for money owes you a clear account of what it is, what it is not, and who decides.

Legal status

Lhacienda Esperanza Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, with its registered office at 8 The Green, STE B, Dover, DE 19901. The foundation was established in 2026. It operates publicly under the name Lhacienda Foundation.

The foundation holds its Certificate of Incorporation and Bylaws, and has obtained its Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the United States Internal Revenue Service.

The application for tax-exempt recognition has not yet been granted. The foundation will file a complete Form 1023 with the IRS. Until a determination letter is issued, we cannot issue tax receipts, and donations made today are not tax-deductible. We will state it on this page and on our donation page the moment that changes.

How the programme is run

Our work in Côte d’Ivoire is carried out as a direct operation of the foundation. We do not grant funds to a third-party local NGO and ask it to act on our behalf: the foundation runs Lhacienda Terra itself, with its own staff and its own records in the Gontougo region.

We say this plainly because the distinction matters. Direct operation means the foundation answers for what happens on the ground — the results, the money, and the mistakes.

Governance

The foundation is governed by a board of three:

  • Franck Arnaud Gbedieu Zago — President
  • Marta María Núñez Muñoz — Treasurer
  • Maely Keren Gbedieu — Secretary

No officer or director receives any compensation from the foundation. As the organization grows, we intend to appoint board members independent of the executive and to publish the composition here.

Money and controls

The foundation’s financial year closes on 31 December. We have not yet completed a full financial year, so there are no annual accounts to publish.

Two controls are in place from the start. Any bank disbursement above USD 2,500 requires two signatures. And school support is given in kind and paid directly to the school, never in cash to families — so that assistance stays attached to the child’s schooling and remains verifiable.

Our commitment is simple and we will be held to it: from our first full financial year, we will publish annual figures on this page — what came in, where it came from, and what it was spent on, separating programme costs from running costs.

What we will publish, and when

  • Programme results — as each cycle is measured, including the ones that fall short of what we hoped.
  • Annual figures — from the close of our first full financial year.
  • Governance changes — any change of officer or board composition, on this page.
  • Tax status — immediately if and when IRS determination is granted.

What we are not

We are not an established organization with a decade of programmes behind us, and we do not want to be read as one. We have one programme in its launch phase, a board of three, and no results yet. If you need a track record before you give — and that is a reasonable position — we would rather you waited and watched, and we will make it easy to follow what happens.

We are also a separate legal person from any commercial company bearing a similar name. The foundation’s assets serve its charitable purpose and nothing else.

Ask us anything

If something on this page is not clear enough, that is a failure on our side. Write to contact@lhaciendafoundation.org and we will answer, and improve the page.
