Bondoukou, Gontougo region, Côte d’Ivoire. Every harvest, the cashew processing plants of the region produce mountains of shells. Most are burned in the open or left to rot. They are, in fact, a dense and usable fuel.
Lhacienda Terra, our first project, turns them into biochar and energy through pyrolysis: cleaner air around the plants, richer soil in the fields, and work that stays local. The project is in its launch phase, run as a direct operation of the foundation.
We are a young foundation. This is where we begin, and we would rather show you one real project than promise ten.
