Training growers and cooperative staff in the practices that keep land productive over decades rather than seasons.
A strand of Lhacienda Terra, the foundation’s field programme in the Gontougo region of Côte d’Ivoire, run as a direct operation of the foundation.
Why this strand
Around Bondoukou, cashew is the crop that decides a household’s year. A plantation planted, harvested and never renewed loses yield, and a grower with no access to technical advice absorbs that loss alone. The knowledge exists; the path from that knowledge to a farm in the Gontougo is what is missing.
What we do
- Practical training for growers and cooperative staff on soil health, orchard renewal and post-harvest handling.
- Field trials of the biochar produced by Terra’s first strand, measured plot by plot — the two strands feed each other rather than running in parallel.
- Support to local processing so that a nut leaving the region is worth more than a nut leaving it raw.
What we need
Growers willing to test on part of a plot rather than all of it, and partners with agronomic standing in the region. If that is you: contact@lhaciendafoundation.org
